SUNCHEON, Oct. 24 (Korea Bizwire) – The Suncheon Bay International Eco-Environmental Art Festival (SEEAF) is set to take off on November 18, highlighting the iconic Suncheon Bay National Garden through artistic means.
The 1.1 million-square-foot garden was formed in 2013 to stop urban development from damaging a natural landmark, Suncheon Bay. With a total of 56 different themed gardens on site, it was designated as the country’s first national garden in 2015.
A total of 57 teams of artists from 24 countries will present their paintings, art installations and sculptures at the indoor exhibition hall and the outdoor garden under the theme of “Voyage into Paradise,” according to the organizing committee. The theme is divided into three parts: “Paradise Lost,” “Paradise Regained” and “Paradises of the World.”
“The festival is not only about recovering nature but also about how to interpret nature through art in the artificial garden. We wanted to provide a moment to contemplate ecological art,” said art director Kim Sung-ho.
