SEOUL, Korea, April 12 (Korea Bizwire) – A recent study showed that college graduates or college-enrolled job seekers suffer most from “hypersensitivity” among many symptoms of stress.
Hypersensitivity is a symptom of stress which makes the sufferer to overreact to even tenuous stimulation due to destabilization of the nerve system.
Korea’s online job search portal “Job Korea” has conducted a survey on 882 job seekers, and announced that 92.0 percent (811 people) of the surveyed answered that they were suffering from stress-related symptoms.
Hypersensitivity was the symptom that they most suffered from with 63.9 percent (plural answers allowed) of the respondents, followed by depression (56.8%), insomnia (42.3%), social phobia (31.4%), digestive troubles (28.4%), and alopecia (6.9%).
The job seekers answered ‘extreme’ most to the degree of stress with 74.1 percent. As many as 46.8 percent of the surveyed answered that they were most stressed ‘after graduation,’ and 23.4 percent ‘in senior year,’ followed by 13.2 percent ‘in junior year’ and 7.7% ‘in sophomore year,’ showing that the stress builds up as the year passes.
“Anxiety over uncertainty in the time of employment” was answered most for the reason of the stress, with 76.1 percent. “Low English scores and lack of internship and awards won” (49.0%), “have not found my talent yet” (44.7%), “fear of rejection in resume screenings and interviews” (41.8%), and “high expectations from parents and relatives” (36.1%) were also answered as the reasons for stress.
