SEOUL, May 12 (Korea Bizwire) – Seoullo 7017, Seoul’s much-anticipated urban renewal project that is set to open next Saturday, will feature blue LED lamps and flower pots, transforming a decommissioned overpass into what Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon describes as a place where “nature and humans can coexist”.
Every night the overpass-turned-walkway in front of Seoul Station will light up in blue to welcome local residents and visitors, with more than 1000 lamps dotted around the park-like walkway inspired by the famous High Line in New York.
Designed to resemble the Milky Way by Dutch architect Winy Maas, the blue lamps that light up the old overpass overlooking Seoul station make a great spectacle at night, with additional RGB LED lamps capable of creating thousands of different hues that will be used for events and festivals.
During the day, tens of thousands of flowers and trees of a variety of types will add life to the city, along with a number of mist water fountains to offer a respite from the summer heat.

“When the sun comes down, Seoullo 7017 turns into its own Milky Way galaxy with its blue LED lighting and tree leaves. We hope (Seoullo 7017) becomes a landmark beloved by both local residents and visitors,” said Go In-suk, the head of Seoul’s infrastructure department.
