SEOUL, June 10 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean games are taking center stage at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) this year, as the tech giant continues to deepen its push into high-performance gaming on Mac devices powered by Apple Silicon.

During Monday’s keynote, Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, unveiled macOS Tahoe and introduced new game-focused features such as “Game Mode Overlay” and Metal 4, the company’s next-generation 3D rendering engine.

Citing the growing momentum of gaming within Apple’s ecosystem, Federighi spotlighted two Korean-developed titles: Pearl Abyss’s upcoming open-world RPG Crimson Desert and Krafton’s early-access title inZOI.

Apple praised Crimson Desert—set for a global release in Q4 2025—for its “stunning visuals and dynamic effects powered by Apple Silicon,” describing its open-world gameplay as “breathtaking in detail.” The footage featured protagonist Kliff navigating vast deserts on horseback and soaring across oceans with raven-like wings.

Pearl Abyss said it plans to collaborate with global partners to ensure gamers can enjoy Crimson Desert across a wide range of environments and platforms.

Meanwhile, Krafton’s inZOI, which debuted on Windows in March 2025, is now entering the Apple ecosystem with a macOS version launching in August. The game leverages Apple’s Metal API to deliver high frame rates and advanced graphical fidelity, including hardware-accelerated ray tracing, HDR support, and upscaling technology optimized for M3 and M4 chips.

Krafton CEO Kim Chang-han expressed enthusiasm over the title’s expanded reach: “We’re excited to bring inZOI to Mac this August with top-tier graphics and performance enabled by Metal and Apple Silicon.”

Apple also noted that inZOI will be available for pre-order on Mac starting today and will launch globally on both the App Store and Steam later this summer, alongside PC and console versions expected by year’s end.

Other Korean titles featured as macOS-compatible games included Neowiz’s Lies of P, which recently released a major DLC, and HIVE IM’s upcoming MMORPG Architect: Land of Exile, developed by Aquatree. HIVE IM announced plans to roll out Architect on iOS and macOS in Korea later this year.

“Bringing a full-fledged MMORPG to macOS is still a rarity in the Korean market,” said a HIVE IM official. “We hope this offers Apple users a compelling new option in the genre.”

Apple’s embrace of Korean titles underscores the growing convergence between global game studios and the company’s high-performance hardware strategy—a trend likely to reshape the Mac gaming landscape in the coming years.
