CHUNCHEON, Jun. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — A group of artists expressed their support for farmers distressed about the worst drought in 42 years, by holding a rain calling performance on June 22 at the dock of Soyang Lake, where a dam has reached a record-low flow.
A pantomime artist, a performance art director, dancers and a sound artist participated in creating and holding the performance of dancing and asking the ‘sky’ to grant farmers’ desperate wish.
The dancers soaked in mud expressed the farmers’ agony on a giant piece of fabric with a drawing of an eel.
The Soyang River Dam decreased its amount of discharge flow, which usually stayed at 50 tons per second, to 5.4 tons per second on June 22.
