SEOUL, Feb. 18 (Korea Bizwire) — Kwang Ju Bank, a local bank in Gwangju in South Jeolla province, is growing a strong customer base through a newly introduced mobile banking desk. The mobile offices have been installed on a remodeled 16-ton truck, outfitted with three counseling stalls and two ATMs. The ATMs were specifically arranged to be used at ground level, widening accessibility to citizens with disabilities.
The banking desk is gaining positive remarks for its rounds to areas lacking banking facilities. According to the vice head of the department for mobile desks at Kwang Ju Bank, 600 new accounts have been opened since the launch of the mobile desk service in November 2014. The bank is also sponsoring local festivals with the banking desk.
Immigrant laborers and workers who don’t have time to make trips to the bank on their breaks are especially loyal to the new service. Busy workers can receive various banking services at the mobile desk, including not only simple money transfer services but also card issuance and loan counseling. Immigrant workers can also take advantage of quick and easy overseas money transfer services at the desk.
