SEOUL, Feb. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — Beautiful Coffee, a Korean civic group promoting fair trade coffee, has now launched a campaign to change chocolate for Valentines’ Day to “brave” chocolate products made of cacao harvested by Peruvian farmers.

The event titled “Change Your Chocolate” was proposed to help the “brave” Peruvian farmers who dared to give up deadly coca farming which otherwise could generate 20 times more profit than cacao farming. Beautiful Coffee imported the cacao from the Peruvian farmers under fair and equitable circumstances to begin their cacao sales in Korea, and is selling the products under the Equal Chocolate brand.

To promote Equal Chocolate, the civic group offered free “brave” chocolates to people on their way to work in the morning on February 10, in a bid to give “braveness” to them and to encourage them to join the campaign.

An official at Beautiful Coffee said, “Now, Korea needs hope and courage and we want to share the braveness of Peruvian farmers with Koreans. On Valentines’ Day when we share warm-hearted messages, I hope lots of people feel the joy with fair trade chocolate.”
