SEOUL, Feb. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s March 1 Independence Movement will be commemorated at the Brazilian Carnival, one of the largest festivals in the world.
On March 1, the Korean Cultural Center in Brazil will hold the Arirang Carnival in Sao Paulo’s Bom Retiro district to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the March 1 Independence Movement as well as the 60th year of South Korea-Brazil diplomatic relations.
The festival will feature Bloco Fuzue, a Brazilian carnival troupe, the Korean Culture and Arts Association in Brazil, and others.
Beginning with an opening ceremony at the Tiradentes subway station in Bom Retiro, a crowd of locals and South Koreans led by Bloco Fuzue will walk the streets as they sing songs of freedom and peace, flying the flags of both countries.
“The carnival will serve as an opportunity to share the spirit of March 1 Movement with the Brazilians and commemorate the 60th year of South Korea-Brazil diplomatic relations,” said Kwon Young-sang, director of the Korean Cultural Center in Brazil.
The Brazilian Carnival will take place between March 5 and 10 in major cities throughout Brazil.
