SEOUL, Jan. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — Workers in the southern port city of Busan have the best work-life balance in South Korea, a government survey showed Wednesday.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the nation’s work-life balance index averaged 54.7 out of a possible 100 points last year, up 1.3 points from a year ago (53.4).
By region, Busan ranked first with a score of 64.1, followed by Seoul at 62 and Sejong at 60.8. North Gyeongsang Province (47.3), Ulsan (47.3) and Gangwon Province (48.9) lagged behind the national average.
It was assessed that the Busan city government is doing a good job with publicity and the city has a well-established organization and ordinance to promote work-life balance.
The ministry conducts an annual survey on work-life balance for each region through the Korean Women’s Development Institute. The survey is composed of four categories and 24 indices, and was first conducted in 2017.
