ULSAN, May 1 (Korea Bizwire) — Ulsan’s unique emergency dispatch system, called ‘Pumbulance,’ which consists of a pump car and an ambulance dispatched to an emergency at the same time, recently saved a life and proved that the system is effective and can provide fast treatment to emergency patients.

Under the Pumbulance system, a pump car equipped with heart defibrillator arrives at a scene and treat patients while an ambulance is on the way, and vice versa, to eliminate any waste of time in saving lives.

According to a statement from the Ulsan Fire Department on April 29, a man aged 55 suddenly collapsed during a workout at a fitness center in Ulsan on April 19. The man was in a cardiac arrest, and a pump car team quickly arrived at the scene to perform CPR.

An ambulance soon arrived, and continued CPR with success. The man is currently stable and being treated in an ICU at a university hospital.

Pumbulance was first introduced in April 2013, and 26 teams currently operate at four fire stations in Ulsan.
