SEOUL, Nov. 26 (Korea Bizwire) - Texas Rangers’ outfielder Choo Shin-soo will donate 110 million won (US$96,111) to a South Korean charity on Thursday, the charity organization said.
A ceremony was to be held Thursday morning with Choo and his wife attending to deliver the donation to ChildFund Korea at the group’s headquarters in central Seoul.
Since becoming a publicity ambassador for the charity, the South Korean player has consistently contributed to society. Last year, he donated 100 million won to the group to help children from five families who were dreaming of becoming sports players or suffering from illnesses.
This year’s donation was prepared with support from the global sportswear brand Nike.
The money will be used to help support would-be sports players and children in the hospital, the group said.
