SEOUL, Nov. 30 (Korea Bizwire) — CJ Cheiljedang Corp., an unit of South Korean food and entertainment giant CJ Group, said Tuesday that the official cheering sticks for the 2022 MAMA Awards, the K-pop industry’s biggest annual year-end music awards that open in Japan on Tuesday, were made from its Hetbahn cooked rice product containers.
The company collected and processed the containers into base material for the cheering sticks.
A total of 3,000 plastic containers were used to make the sticks.
The sticks can be purchased at Kyocera Dome Osaka, a baseball stadium located in Osaka where the awards ceremony is being held on Nov. 29-30.
CJ ENM, CJ Group’s entertainment unit that hosts the event, plans to invest all of the profits generated from cheering stick sales to environmental protection causes.
CJ Cheiljedang currently operates a collection box for the Hetbahn product containers at malls in Seoul.
Next year, the company will engage in consultations with authorities to set up additional boxes in other regions.
