SEOUL, Nov. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean logistics giant CJ Logistics Corp. said Sunday that it will build a ‘twin warehouse’ in a virtual network that closely resembles one from the real world to anticipate future warehouse stocks.
‘Digital twin’ technology refers to building a virtual space that’s identical to one in the real world to carry out simulations and deduce the optimum method of operation.
As facilities diversify and processes intertwine in logistics hubs, it has become very difficult to monitor all processes and increase efficiency with previous systems.
With ‘digital twin’ technology, however, virtual warehouses can be used to simulate and verify the speed of operation and movement of various facilities, CJ Logistics explained.
The company plans to build virtual logistics hubs that are identical to the ones in the real world by December to optimize work routes, stock allocations and facility efficiency.
They will also be used to determine possible causes of facility breakdowns and parcel damage.
