SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Korea Bizwire)CJ OliveNetworks is the company that created the most jobs in the past five years among affiliates of the top 30 South Korean conglomerates.

The Korea Economic Research Institute analyzed the number of employees at affiliates with more than 300 employees at the top 30 conglomerates between 2013 and 2018 based on Fair Trade Commission public data from large companies.

As a result, CJ OliveNetworks, a beauty retail and technology subsidiary of CJ Group, saw its number of employees increase 4.4 times, or 9,626, to 12,498 in 2018 from 2,872 in 2013.

Starbucks Coffee Korea Co. followed with 8,864 new employees. LG Chem Ltd. also contributed to job creation with 5,916 people. Hyundai Motor Group added 5,226 employees and CJ Freshway Corp. created 4,848 jobs.

The sectors with the largest increase in the number of employees were manufacturing, followed by wholesale and retail businesses, lodging and restaurant businesses, professional science and technology, and publishing, video and communications.

Between 2017 and 2018, Samsung Electronics saw the largest increase in the number of employees, with 3,536 jobs created.

Samsung was followed by CJ Freshway, SK hynix Inc., Hanwha Q Cells Co. & Advanced Materials and LG Uplus Corp.
