SEOUL, Nov. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — The convenience store industry is striving to play a greater role in public safety amid growing public interest in the response to emergency situations after the Itaewon disaster.
CU recently signed a memorandum of understanding with security service provider S-1 Corp. to establish emergency medical equipment-related public services.
Under terms of the MOU, CU plans to install S-1’s automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at its 16,000 stores across the country.
After installing the AEDs first at its direct-run stores in populous areas within the greater Seoul area, CU will set up detailed installation guidelines and expand the installation to its stores across the country.
Meanwhile, GS25 signed an MOU with the Busan Metropolitan Government to expand education on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid.
After trial installations of AEDs at several GS25 outlets, the two parties will analyze the effect and expand the scope of installation to every GS25 convenience store in the city.
