SEOUL, Nov. 8 (Korea Bizwire) – E-Mart 24, well-known for its innovative offerings like imported cars, karaoke boxes, screen golf facilities, and electric vehicles, is now venturing into a new market by introducing prefabricated houses.
Convenience store chain E-Mart 24 unveiled on Wednesday a groundbreaking partnership with YMK General Construction, a leading general contractor, to launch a range of prefabricated housing products—a first in the industry.
An E-Mart 24 spokesperson explained, “With the rising popularity of the ‘Workation’ trend, where individuals blend work and leisure during vacations, and the emergence of new lifestyles like the ’5-day urban-2-day rural’ routine, where people work in the city for five days and retreat to the countryside for the weekends, we’ve decided to introduce prefabricated housing options that can serve as a ‘second home.’”
These prefabricated houses come in three configurations, including a single-story 15-pyeong model and a duplex 20-25-pyeong design, complete with two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, a terrace, a kitchen, and a utility room.
Potential buyers can submit their applications at any E-Mart 24 physical store nationwide until the end of this month. Once the application is processed, customers will receive a unique URL that allows them to explore a 3D model of the house, both inside and out, consult with a professional agent, and make a payment.
After payment is confirmed, the house can be installed at the buyer’s desired location within as little as two months, excluding the time required for design and permits. Please note that buyers must have an eligible plot of land for installation.
These prefabricated houses are constructed using a “panelized construction method,” where components like walls, roofs, and floors are prefabricated and then assembled on-site at the buyer’s property. Once the foundation work is completed, which involves connecting water, electricity, and septic systems, the house can be installed promptly.
Furthermore, buyers have the flexibility to customize the interior and exterior design, as well as the layout, to align with their preferences.
The panelized construction method is gaining recognition as a cutting-edge, environmentally friendly approach that reduces construction time, costs, and waste while delivering superior seismic, insulation, and fire resistance performance compared to traditional houses.
