SEOUL, Jul. 3 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul Digital Foundation said Tuesday that it will collaborate with Hanwha Precision Machinery Co. to introduce “cooperation robots” at handmade workshops in Seongsu Handmade Shoe Street in Seoul.
The so-called “cooperation robot” is a robot that interact with humans and helps with various tasks.
Global automotive companies such as BMW and Volkswagen have made use of “cooperation robots” in bonding processes, in which doors are assembled to a vehicle.
And the robots are currently being used in parts processing, assembly, and packaging in South Korea.
The foundation and Hanwha will install cooperation robots at up to three handmade workshops or companies in Seongsu-dong, and support safety certification.
The foundation explained that cooperation robots are mainly used to improve the quality of products and the working environment.
Koh Han-seok, president of the Seoul Digital Foundation, said that the company will seek to introduce cooperation robots by exploring other areas in need such as small-sized merchants in sewing and precious metals areas.
