SEOUL, Sept. 7 (Korea Bizwire)Actress Yoon Eun-hye has been accused of copying a domestic designer brand at a variety show in China.

As a participant on the Chinese design survival show, ‘Fashion of the Goddess’, the Korean actress won first prize by designing a white coat with wings.

The coat, which was designed by Yoon Eun-hye in collaboration with another designer, caused controversy as designer Yoon Chun-ho from ARCHE suggested that the actress copied his design.

Yoon mentioned through his SNS account that he was very upset. “A friend informed me that clothing similar to a product from ARCHE was seen on a Chinese TV show, but it seemed like another person designed it. I see that the two outfits are not that alike so some might say that it is not ripped off, but it is very unpleasant.”

He continued, saying, “I feel that way, and my employees feel that way, and the people that made the clothes feel that way. Isn’t it a copy if all of us feel that it is practically the same design? I feel very rotten about it since clothes from our brand are sold in China as well.”

In the meantime, debate is raging online about the controversy. Some said that as fashion designers, it was embarrassing to see someone rip off another person’s work, and that Yoon Eunhye should apologize to designer Yoon Chun-ho.

Others say that any person who designs clothing would have thought about adding frilly details to sleeves at least once during their career, and that Yoon Eunhye might not have known that the design was similar. However, users also pointed out that the biggest problem was that even if the actress wanted to, she would not be able to apologize to the designer as it might cause problems for the TV program.

I do not believe she did it consciously. There is no central data base to check other design or copyrights. Cloth designs are not like the Patents. She has seen many designs over the years, mostly it was in her memory and she thought it was her original idea. How many people can even name top designers and the designs over the last 5 years? She is an honest person.

Thank’s john for your comment, it seems that your one of all the people that has sense. Very intelligent, maybe this site is for people who brought up not to judge or threw a stone at someone’s mistake right away. Just like Mr designer who thinks that only him create the style. What a pitiful fellow! That style is been around since my mom is young.

Hello Mr. Lee (i have sent you an email at mhlee@koreabizwire.com) , evidence that Ms. Yoon Eun Hye did not plagiarize. I think it was incredibly ruthless and unprofessional of the designer to use the social media and ruins someone’s career like that without even having concrete evidence to his claim.

I think it was incredibly ruthless and unprofessional of the designer to use the social media to ruin someone’s career like that without even having concrete evidence to his claim. He just based his accusation without even checking if it’s the same material, same ruffles and etc. In that email I sent you pictures from different angles. Thank you.
