JEJU, Aug. 31 (Korea Bizwire) — Firefighters on Jeju Island successfully conducted a rescue operation when a group of cows became stranded in a retention basin due to heavy rainfall.
The Jeju Province Fire Safety Headquarters on Wednesday received a notification about a flooded retention basin in Seogwipo, which resulted in six cows becoming isolated while they were grazing.
Upon reaching the scene, the fire department discovered that the cows were trapped because the water had covered a bridge.
The team skillfully guided the cows to safety and managed to rescue all of them.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the area received a total of 108 millimeters of rainfall between midnight and noon on the day of the rescue, with the highest hourly precipitation estimated at 31.5 millimeters.
