SEOUL, June 25 (Korea Bizwire) — Convenience store chain CU said Thursday that it will introduce wooden decks made with used coffee grounds at several outlets.
Coffee grounds are leftovers made during the coffee brewing process, and are typically discarded as waste in South Korea.
CU plans to first set up coffee ground decks at a limited number of stores, and expand their rollout based on feedback.
The coffee ground decks use a wood composite that contains more than 20 percent of coffee grounds which is durable and less prone to strain. It also comes with deodorant and aromatic features.
