SEOUL, March 2 (Korea Bizwire) — Following K-pop super band BTS’ decision to cancel concerts planned for April in Seoul in the aftermath of the novel coronavirus outbreak, a growing number of fans are donating their ticket refunds to COVID-19 relief efforts.
A local relief group, Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association, said the amount of donations received under the names of BTS and its fan base, Army, had reached about 390 million won (US$325,600) as of Sunday.
BTS member Suga donated 100 million won to the same organization last Thursday, asking for the funds to be used to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Suga himself is from Daegu, which is the epicenter of the virus outbreak in South Korea.
