SEOUL, Aug. 1 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Motor Co. held a special event during a K League 1 match at Jeonju World Cup Stadium between Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and Jeju United on Saturday, in which players entered the arena with canine blood donors.
It was the first time for players at a South Korean football match to enter not with children, but with animals.
Blood donation dogs should weigh over 25 kilograms, be between 2 and 8 years old and have no history of contagious diseases.
They are different from so-called “blood supply dogs” that are bred specifically for the purpose of blood transfusion.
The event was held as a part of the carmaker’s I’M DOgNOR campaign, which calls for the protection of the survival of blood supply dogs and aims to foster a culture of canine blood donation.
