SEOUL, July 9 (Korea Bizwire) — The NC Dinos announced Wednesday their slugger Matt Davidson will be out for four to six weeks with a broken rib.
The Dinos said Davidson was diagnosed with a hairline rib fracture on the right side following a test done earlier in the day.
The Dinos said they don’t have an immediate plan to sign a temporary injury replacement for Davidson.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) will be on an All-Star break from Friday to next Wednesday. The Dinos said they will consider acquiring a new foreign player on a short-term team, after first monitoring Davidson’s recovery during the midseason break.
KBO teams are allowed to sign foreign players to temporary deals to fill in for those sidelined for at least six weeks. So far this season, the LG Twins, the Hanwha Eagles, the SSG Landers and the Kiwoom Heroes have made use of that rule.
Davidson led the KBO with 46 home runs last season, his first in South Korea. This year, the American infielder is fifth in the league with 16 home runs, but he has only played 63 of the Dinos’ first 83 games due to injuries.
The Dinos entered Wednesday ranked eighth in the 10-team league at 38-40-5 (wins-losses-ties).
