SEOUL, June 2 (Korea Bizwire) — Divorced couples in South Korea have completely different perceptions of each other, a survey showed Thursday.
Matchmaking agencies Only You and Bien-Aller conducted a survey of 532 divorced men and women.
In the survey, 34.2 percent of men said they would maintain a cordial relationship with their ex-wives, while 25.6 percent regarded them as nothing more than a mother to their children, and 22.2 percent did not wish to see them at all.
In contrast, 32.3 percent of women did not wish to see their ex-husbands at all.
Another 24.1 percent were in favor of maintaining a cordial relationship, while 18 percent saw them as nothing more than a person in a family photo, and 20.3 percent regarded them as merely a father to their children.
When asked about how they wanted their ex-partners to carry on with their lives, 35 percent of men wanted their ex-wives to live without worries, while 33.1 percent of women, in contrast, wanted their ex-husbands to “struggle a bit.”
Among men, 57.5 percent wished their ex-wives a life without worries, while 52.3 percent of women wanted their ex-husbands to live a difficult life.
“Women become extremely sensitive after divorce, and their broken emotions seldom recover,” Only You said.
