SEOUL, Jan. 26 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean e-commerce companies are introducing a variety of new services to get the upper hand in the fast-growing online luxury goods market.
SSG.com, the online mall arm of retail giant Shinsegae Group, announced a plan to introduce a new delivery service for luxury goods by the first quarter of this year. This service will use professional security vehicles and guards to deliver luxury goods to customers.
SSG.com will use professional delivery companies with vehicles mounted with exclusive safes, security cameras and alarm sensors.
The company also plans to launch a new service that will arrange transactions of used items among its luxury goods customers by the end of this year.
Lotte ON, an online shopping website run by Lotte Shopping Co., the operator of South Korea’s biggest department store and hypermarket chains, joined hands with local startup LUXURY&ALL to launch a new service connecting repair professionals with its luxury goods customers.
If customers upload the description of the product in need of repair and related photos online, repair specialists participate in a bidding process and customers can select among them based on their offer price and review records.
The number of e-commerce companies offering authentication guarantees is also expanding. Tren:be, BALAAN and MUSTIT offer a 200 percent refund if the luxury goods they sell are proved to be fakes.
Fashion retailer Shinsegae International Inc.’s luxury shopping platform S.I. VILLAGE issues digital certificates of authentication to ensure that the luxury goods they sell are genuine.
