SEOUL, June 6 (Korea Bizwire) Hanwha Eagles starting pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin has been ruled out for at least 10 days with discomfort in his left adductor.

The Eagles removed Ryu from their active roster Friday, a day after the left-hander made his 13th start of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) season.

Ryu lasted only 3 2/3 innings while allowing four runs on eight hits — both totals tied for his season high — in a 7-0 loss to the KT Wiz. He also served up his first home run since April 30.

Per KBO rules, a player taken off an active roster must be away for a minimum of 10 days. The Eagles said Ryu will likely skip two turns in the rotation before rejoining the team.

For the season, Ryu is 5-3 with a 3.46 ERA.

Ryu, 38, is in his second season back with the Eagles after pitching in Major League Baseball from 2013 to 2023. His first tour of duty with the Eagles went from 2006 to 2012.

Last year, Ryu went 10-8 with a 3.87 ERA.

The Eagles are also without right-handed starter Moon Dong-ju, who was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 26. He wasn’t experiencing any physical issues, but the Eagles wanted to give the 21-year-old fireballer a breather after he allowed his season-high six runs in 4 2/3 innings on May 25.

The Eagles entered Friday ranked second in the league at 36-25-0 (wins-losses-ties), 1 1/2 games behind the LG Twins. The Eagles had the best starting rotation ERA in the KBO with 3.43.
