SEOUL, Nov. 10 (Korea Bizwire) — The Capital Area Air Environment Protection Agency will hold an annual contest to give awards to winners in total air pollutant management plans on November 11 at the Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corporation building in Seoul’s Gangnam. The presentation session will announce four winning firms, 34 communities of practice, and three individuals who made measurable contributions to reducing air pollution.
The Ilsan Combined Cycle Thermal Power Plant operated by Korea East West Power Co. has been picked by the best award winner for its role in cutting nitrogen oxide emissions by 34 percent by installing low-temperature denitrification facilities on vertical waste heat recovery gas turbines. A waste heat recovery system recovers heat from hot streams with potential high energy content and uses it to run the steam turbine.
As for the awardees for communities of practice, there are 34 companies including GS Power’s Bucheon Combined Cycle Thermal Power Plant for their efforts in improving gas turbine energy efficiency, exhaust gas heat recovery, and the like.
In addition, Moon Hak-woo, a senior manager with TeaHyung Group, a non-ferrous metal processor, will also get an award from the Minister of Environment for his role in reducing air pollution emissions by improving energy facilities and fuel efficiency.
