Fashion Industry Leads Eco-friendly Practices with Fabric Made from Plastic Bottles

SEOUL, April 29 (Korea Bizwire)The fashion industry is releasing a series of recycled, eco-friendly handbags and apparel. Products made with recycled plastic bottles, in particular, are gaining attention.

Beanpole Accessory, the fashion arm of Samsung C&T Corp., recently released the Walnut Knit Bucket Bag made of recycled plastic bottles.

Black Yak has begun making products using recently collected plastic bottles, and signed an agreement with South Chungcheong Province to add more products to its lineup.

The North Face, too, collected some 100 tons of plastic bottles from Jeju Province last February to produce new recycled collections.

The fashion industry is flocking to eco-friendly products since they go beyond a temporary fad to impact long-term brand preference among consumers.

Among other materials, fabric made with plastic bottles is in ample supply and can easily go through secondary processing, which makes it an attractive choice for fashion producers.
