SEOUL, Dec. 20 (Korea Bizwire) – A recent study conducted by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea revealed that ‘Forklift Operator’ emerged as the most frequently specified national technical qualification in job postings last year.

The analysis, based on postings on the Worknet job information portal in 2022, identified a noteworthy increase of 17.6% from the previous year, totaling 146,305 postings that emphasized the acquisition of a national technical qualification as either a requirement or preference.

This surge marked the highest number recorded in the past five years, underscoring the growing significance of such qualifications in the hiring process. Out of the 544 national technical qualifications available as of the end of last year, 80.1% (436) were actively sought in recruitment efforts.

The most common qualification cited in job postings was ‘Forklift Operator,’ featured in 21,553 postings. Following closely were ‘Craftsman Cook for Korean Food’ (13,354), ‘Engineer Architecture’ (9,740), ‘Engineer Electricity’ (6,589), and ‘Craftsman Electricity’ (6,528).

Notably, the qualification experiencing the most substantial year-over-year growth in job openings was ‘Engineer Construction Material Testing,’ increasing from 129 in 2021 to 232 in the past year. Additionally, ‘Engineer Industrial Safety’ demonstrated a notable rise from 1,397 to 2,520, while ‘Engineer Building Facilities’ increased from 129 to 221.

The analysis pointed out that the increased demand for roles such as ‘Engineer Industrial Safety’ and ‘Engineer Construction Safety’ can be attributed to the growing importance of safety managers in the workplace, driven by the implementation of the Serious Accident Punishment Act.

This highlights a shifting trend in recruitment priorities as organizations prioritize roles crucial to ensuring safety and compliance.
