Williams, also known as the “original Top Gun,” fought seven Soviet MiG fighter jets in November 1952 in the city of Hoeryong in North Hamgyong Province during the Korean War, bringing down four of them after a fierce air battle.

After his return to base, Williams found 263 bullet holes in his F9F-5 Panther, showing just how fierce the battle was.
