SEOUL, June 21 (Korea Bizwire) – A 39-year old French man was arrested on June 20 for abandoning his two-year old son, who he fathered with a Korean woman, at a park, according to an officer at Incheon’s Seobu Police Station.
He is being charged with child abandonment for leaving his two-year old son at a park in Cheongna International City located in Seo-gu, Incheon. The man works as a personal trainer, and he met his Korean ex-wife in France through the Internet in 2012.
They were in a relationship for three years and had a son together, but broke up last year.
His wife returned to Korea, and he was raising their son by himself until June 1 when he also came to Korea to ask the child’s mother to take care of her son.
After being interrogated, he admitted that he abandoned his son at a park because the boy’s mother refused to raise him.
A passerby called the police when she saw the two-year old boy alone at the park. The contact number of the boy’s grandfather was in his pocket.
The French man is currently in a relationship with another Korean woman, who he also met online.
