SEOUL, May 3 (Korea Bizwire) — The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the National Police Agency on Tuesday announced that they will enhance cooperation to prevent stalking crimes and ensure the safety and support of victims.
The ministry plans to launch an experimental project that provides residential support to stalking victims in temporary shelters and residences.
In case a stalking victim presses an emergency bell installed inside the residence, police will be on standby for immediate deployment, and the agency will also introduce stricter neighborhood patrols in residential areas.
Later this year, when complaints are filed, the police’s 112 emergency hotline and the ministry’s 1366 emergency hotline for women will provide necessary information and services to stalking victims.
Additionally, the police will offer bodyguard services to high-risk victims.
