SEOUL, Feb. 6 (Korea Bizwire) – General Motors CEO Mary Barra will visit Seoul this week to meet with leaders of major South Korean battery makers, industry sources said Tuesday.
Barra plans to fly into Seoul on Wednesday to meet with Kim Dong-myung, president of LG Energy Solution Ltd. (LGES), and Choi Yoon-ho, CEO of Samsung SDI Co., individually to discuss their joint projects and further cooperation, according to the sources.
GM and LGES have built or been building joint battery plants in the United States.
GM and Samsung SDI are also constructing a joint battery plant in Indiana to open by 2026.
Last week, GM announced its plan to release plug-in hybrid vehicles in the U.S. market once again to tackle the sluggish demand for electric vehicles.
