SEOUL, Sept. 5 (Korea Bizwire) — The Genesis G90, the flagship sedan of Hyundai Motor Co.’s luxury brand Genesis, has racked up strong sales since its release earlier this year.
Genesis reported that a total of 14,658 units of G90, priced at over 100 million won (US$73,280) each, were sold in the South Korean market between January and August.
This year, it released all-new G90 sedan six years after the release of the first generation model.
A total of 9,962 units of G90 were sold in the first half of this year, 3,400 units more than Mercedes-Benz’s S-Class sedan (6,473 units).
The G90’s domestic sales struggled to top the 5,000-units mark as recently as last year, reaching no more than half of S-Class sales.
Later this year, the G90 applying Level 3 autonomous driving technologies will be released in South Korea.
