SEOUL, May 29 (Korea Bizwire) — The Genesis GV70 sport utility vehicle has been recognized by top automotive publications in the United States and Canada as one of the best premium sport utility vehicles (SUVs) on the market, Genesis said Thursday.

The independent premium auto brand of South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group recently held an event in Texas to showcase the GV70′s technologies to journalists from 60 automotive media outlets across North America.

Participants included representatives from Car and Driver, Automotive News, MotorTrend, Edmunds, and Kelly Blue Book, as well as judges for the World Car of the Year (WCOTY) and the North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) awards.

The GV70 was widely praised as an outstanding premium SUV, with participants highlighting its driving performance, cabin quietness and high-quality interior design.

“This SUV still adroitly treads the line between luxury and sport. But its steering now feels a tad sharper, its wheel control (and thus ride quality) is better managed over pockmarked pavement, and its composure around corners is a smidge more refined,” according to Car and Driver.

MotorTrend noted that the ride is truly better than before, with no compromise in handling.

Canadian automotive site Driving.ca said, “The makeup of Texas roadways seems to be unusually loud at speed, and the Genesis was impressively quiet and smooth.”

Genesis vehicle sales in the U.S. rose 8.4 percent year-on-year to 75,003 units in 2024. The GV70 accounted for 35 percent of the brand’s total sales in what is considered the world’s most competitive automobile market.
