SEOUL, Aug. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — Girls’ Generation’s latest album “Holiday Night” rose to the top of Billboard’s World Albums chart, according to the music publication Wednesday.
The K-pop girl group’s sixth full-length album, released on Aug. 4, stood at No. 1 on the chart for the week of Aug. 26, according to Billboard’s website. South Korean project boy band Wanna One’s “1X1=1 (To Be One)” and EXO’s “The War” stood at third and fourth, respectively.
Upon release, Girls’ Generation’s latest record soared to No. 1 on Apple iTunes charts in 19 countries, including Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Sweden and Argentina.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the eight-member act has been promoting its record through its two double lead songs “Holiday” and “All Night.”
Debuting in 2007 with “Into the New World,” Girls’ Generation has become one of the leading female K-pop acts with multiple hits including “Gee,” “Genie” and “I Got A Boy.”
