SEOUL, Sept. 20 (Korea Bizwire) — U.S. Internet giant Google Inc. is estimated to have recorded sales of nearly 5 trillion won (US$4.6 billion) in South Korea last year, a South Korean professor said Thursday.
“Google is estimated to have earned around 4.9 trillion won sales in South Korea last year,” said Lee Tae-hee, a professor of business administration at Kookmin University.
Lee announced his estimates at a seminar in Seoul, saying the figures are based on an annual earnings report by Alphabet Inc., a holding company of Google.
“Advertisement sales from video recently increased as more searches are made through YouTube,” Lee said.
Other experts estimated that Google recorded some 3.2 trillion won in sales, not including commission from Google Playstore.
Google Korea declined to comment on its sales in South Korea.
