SEOUL, July 26 (Korea Bizwire) — There are moves afoot to enable physically recycled materials made by removing impurities after crushing and heating synthetic resin products to be used in the manufacturing of food containers and utensils.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on Monday issued a legislation notice for a partial revision of the enforcement ordinance, opening the way for physically recycled materials to be used in the manufacturing of food containers, utensils and packaging.
Any business that wants to use physically recycled materials for manufacturing food containers, utensils or packaging should submit documents on recycling data, methods and processes to the ministry.
After reviewing the documents, the ministry can issue a letter of approval to the business concerned.
The ministry noted that it will become possible to use not only chemically recycled materials but also physically recycled materials for the production of food containers, utensils and packaging, thereby contributing to expanding the scope of recycled products and protecting the environment.
