SEOUL, Dec. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has developed a new system dubbed ‘Patient Safety Information Check System’ that enables patients to check information on implanted medical devices such as breast implants and artificial joints.
With the new system, patients can check a variety of information on their implanted medical devices, including approval information, safety information, medical information and usage information.
Patients can make use of the new service by accessing it through the ministry’s medical device information portal.
After signing up for a membership and registering information on their implanted medical devices including breast implants, artificial joints, cardiac pacemakers, and artificial blood vessels, patients can check the above-mentioned information.
Patients can also subscribe to an alert service that warns of side effects or recalls of the implanted medical devices in the format of text message to the mobile phone number they registered when subscribing to the service.
“This system will contribute to improving the health management of patients by enabling them to swiftly check the safety information of their implanted medical devices,” the ministry said.
