SEOUL, Feb. 10 (Korea Bizwire) — Hanwha Aerospace Co. said Tuesday it has partnered with Frankenburg Technologies, an Estonian missile systems firm, to jointly develop counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) technology for next-generation land weapon platforms.
Under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed Monday (local time) on the sidelines of the World Defense Show (WDS) 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the two companies will cooperate on the joint development of the technology, which is being reviewed for use in Hanwha’s next-generation command armored vehicle currently under development.
Hanwha Aerospace will be responsible for integrating the C-UAS into its platforms, while Frankenburg Technologies will develop the guided missiles, launchers and fire control software.
The partnership reflects Hanwha Aerospace’s expanding cooperation with the Estonian defense industry. The company previously signed an MOU with Milrem Robotics, as well as agreements with other Estonian firms, including Nortal and SensusQ.
Hanwha Aerospace first established ties with Estonia through the supply of its K9 self-propelled howitzers in 2020 and the Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher system in late 2025.
“This MOU serves as a pivotal opportunity to enhance the survivability and competitiveness of next-generation land weapon systems against the growing threat of drones on the future battlefield,” Kim Dong-hyeon, head of Hanwha Aerospace’s land systems division, said.
