SEOUL, Sept. 14 (Korea Bizwire) – Hanwha Group has started a campaign that reserves donations for those in need whenever a Hanwha employee walks one step.
The ‘Hanwha Walking for Earth’ event, in which 300 employees and their families walked the Namsan Dulegil, took place on September 12.
Employees from 12 Hanwha affiliates and their families participated in the event. After installing an application that reserves donations on one’s smart phone, one won is automatically saved for every 10 meters measured by GPS.
Employees of Hanwha have been using the app since July, donating during their everyday activities such as commutes to work or daily exercise. Nearly 10,000 employees participated.
With the donations, 300 bicycles will be presented to welfare facilities and children in need.
Hanwha has been conducting the campaign since last year in partnership with the social enterprise ‘Big Walk’, which developed the application, and ‘Children and their Future’, a social welfare foundation.
Kim Seung-yeon, chairman of Hanwha, has engaged in many community service activities such as fixing houses for the elderly living alone, and helping out farmers, under his philosophy ‘Going far, together’.
