SEOUL, June 10 (Korea Bizwire) – HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., a major South Korean shipyard, said Monday it has won a 148.4 billion-won (US$107.7 million) order to build two petrochemical carriers for a Middle Eastern shipper.
Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., one of HD Korea Shipbuilding’s three shipbuilding units, will construct the carriers at its shipyard in the southeastern port of Ulsan, HD Korea Shipbuilding said.
The vessels will be delivered to the undisclosed shipping company by December 2026, it added.
So far this year, HD Korea Shipbuilding has obtained orders to construct 112 vessels worth $12.1 billion, or 89.7 percent of its yearly target of $13.5 billion.
HD Korea Shipbuilding, a subholding company of shipbuilding, oil refining and machinery conglomerate HD Hyundai, has three domestic units under its wing — HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co.
