INCHEON, Nov. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — Ahead of the state-administered College Scholastic Aptitude Test on Thursday, island-dwelling students are coming to the mainland, staying at city hotels as they prepare for the upcoming exam.
Half of the 70 students from islands in Incheon’s Ongjin County, about 50 kilometers west of Seoul, came to the mainland on Nov. 11, staying at Western Harbor Park Hotel as they prepare for the examination.
There are no test centers on the island, and students from the same school cannot comprise more than 40 percent of a single examination hall.
Rooms are being shared by two students with seven teachers for supervision.
The eight-day cost of accommodation and food will be covered by the city of Incheon, the Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education, Ongjin County and the hotel, based on a shared agreement, until the day following the test.
Once they are done with the examination, the students will spend one more night at the hotel before returning home by boat the next morning.
