Homepick to Launch New Delivery Service to Reach Consumers “Within an Hour”

SEOUL, Jul. 17 (Korea Bizwire)Homepick, a joint venture by local energy giants SK Energy and GS Caltex to provide delivery service based on their network of gas stations, is defined by the following tagline: “We deliver within an hour if you’re home.”

In the past, delivery service customers had to either wait at home indefinitely for delivery people to pick up their goods or carry heavy loads to nearby convenience stores and post offices.

The new service by Homepick gets rid of such hassles, as illustrated by the company yesterday in a demonstration performed as part of a press event.

Users can apply for the service via Naver, Kakao Talk, CJ Korea Express and Homepick’s website (www.homepick.com) to register and make payments.

The delivery fee is set at a single price of 5,500 won regardless of the volume or weight of the delivery packages.

However, users can take advantage of a special price of 3,990 won per package during the next few days while Homepick offers a special promotion.

After the delivery is registered online, information on the delivery person will be provided to the user.

Within an hour of the delivery request or at a time designated by the user, the packages will be picked up by the delivery person.

The task of delivering the packages from users to gas stations will be taken on by Zoomma, a startup transportation company which will utilize the network of gas stations that currently exist throughout the nation by paying a fixed fee on a regular basis to SK Energy and GS Caltex.

The gas stations doubling as logistical hubs will help cut down on delivery times as existing delivery services spend significant time traveling to and from distribution storehouses. Both time and costs will be minimized with this new system.

The gas stations will also be profiting from the deal by receiving a regular fee to turn empty spaces at gas stations into makeshift storerooms, becoming a win-win deal for all parties involves.

Homepick will be expanding its network to include over 600 gas stations nationwide by August before officially launching the service to the public in September.
