SEOUL, Sept. 26 (Korea Bizwire) –The average living space for households in Seoul was found to be the smallest in South Korea. In addition, the living space in the Gangnam district including Seocho-gu was greatest of all the 25 municipalities in Seoul.
According to data released by Statistics Korea yesterday, the average living space per household in the Seoul region was 62.3 square meters, clinching the national title of the smallest living space of any location, far below the national average of 69.4 square meters. Seoul’s average was also lower than the average living space of other cities like Incheon (66.7 square meters) and Busan (67.8 square meters).
Ulsan was the city in which residents enjoyed the greatest living space per household with 76 square meters, followed by South Chungcheong province (74 square meters). Daegu and Sejong tied for the third spot with 73.5 square meters per household. In Seoul, the southern districts of Seocho, Gangnam, and Songpa boasted comparatively higher levels of living space.
The living space per household in Seocho-gu last year fell slightly to 82.6 square meters. But only residents of Seocho-gu enjoyed living spaces of over 80 square meters, albeit an average, significantly above the Seoul average of 62.3 square meters.
The average living space of residents inhabiting Gangnam-gu and Songpa-gu came in at 76.4 square meters and 67.9 square meters, respectively, the former taking the second spot while the latter was fourth in the rankings.
Both Gangnam-gu and Songpa-gu are situated in the south of the capital city. Meanwhile, Yongsan-gu was ranked third on the list with 70.7 square meters of average living space per household, which was also the greatest average living space found in northern Seoul.
In contrast, the districts with the smallest living space in Seoul were Gwanak-gu, Jungnang-gu and Gangbuk-gu at 48.9 square meters, 56.1 square meters and 56.3 square meters, respectively.
