SEOUL, Jan.4 (Korea Bizwire)Smartphones from China’s Huawei, exclusively sold in Korea by LG U+, are creating a craze after the launch of the company’s affordable Y6 model, with 10,000 devices sold in only 15 days.

LG U+ announced that approximately 700 units of the Y6 are being sold every day, creating an unprecedented craze in Korea for a Chinese smartphone.

The factory price of the Y6 is 154,000 won, which is the cheapest among all smartphones launched in the domestic market. As word has spread that the phone performs well and has great features for the price, it is gaining more and more popularity among consumers as a New Year’s gift for parents and teenagers.

The Y6 has a 5-inch HD display, 1GB RAM, and a detachable battery. The phone also features ‘Dual Phone’, which allows for the use of the smartphone as an internet phone, and ‘Real Radio’ which allows users to listen to the radio without using data.

The results of big data analysis on Y6 users show that the device has been preferred among early adopters, and men who are more open to new devices.

By age group, teenagers and those in their 40s and 50s were most likely to be interested in the new product.

In addition, nearly half of the users selected a payment plan within the 20,000-won range. This reflects the current mobile landscape in which many users feel uneasy about high-priced plans.

Through official subsidies and an additional 20,000 won in discounts from dealers, users can purchase the device at the factory price.

To prolong the unexpected winning streak of the Y6, LG U+ plans to run a program which will enable consumers to experience the features of the new device.
