SEOUL, Mar. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Motor Group has developed a digital key available on smartphones, with a plan to gradually apply the “smartphone key” to upcoming models, the company said Monday.
The technology is aimed at enhancing consumer convenience in the era of car-sharing economy, Hyundai Motor Group said in a statement.
The handset key technology allows up to four people, including the driver of a vehicle, to open and start the car and control its functions, it said.
“The digital key technology is the first step of Hyundai’s efforts to develop connectivity technologies between a vehicle and a smartphone,” a company official said in the statement.
