SEOUL, June 24 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., a major South Korean builder, is set to introduce construction robotics technology using unmanned robots for its construction sites.
The company recently held a demonstration ceremony for its construction robotics technology at its research center in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
During the demonstration ceremony, a patrol robot autonomously moved around a construction site to collect a variety of information and responded to field situations remotely.
Hyundai E&C plans to apply a variety of platform sensors to the patrol robot aimed at using it on multiple fronts, including the detection of toxic pollution, and laser scanning the surroundings of construction sites.
An unmanned drilling robot performed the work of drilling into the ceiling. This work is usually completed by construction workers who have to ride a lift and wear protective gear.
The unmanned construction robot detected the location where it was to complete its task using artificial intelligence (AI) vision sensors, while carrying out the designated work on a remote and self-driving basis.
The robots not only ensure a high level of accuracy and efficiency, but also help to maintain worker safety in a highly dangerous work environment.
