SEOUL, June 25 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Mobis Co., South Korea’s leading auto parts maker, said Thursday that it had developed a so-called ‘clusterless HUD’ for the first time in the world.
The clusterless HUD is a combination of a digital cluster that shows diverse information about a vehicle’s operation on a simplified screen, with a head-up display (HUD).
The new device includes next-generation driver assistance technology that minimizes the distractions of drivers by separating the display of information on vehicle operation into an HUD that is located at the height of the driver’s eyes and AVNT (audio, video, navigation and telematics).
The company said that the clusterless HUD located the display of essential driving information such as speed and RPM at the height of the driver’s eyes, while improving the level of safety and convenience by adding the HUD’s original driving assistance function such as navigation.
Other auxiliary driving information is offered through the AVNT.
Hyundai Mobis expects the clusterless HUD, a display technology that is optimized for self-driving and vehicle electrification, to contribute to improving space utilization inside vehicles.
The company also added that the new display would contribute to reducing the vehicle’s weight and increasing maximum driving distance.
