SEOUL, Jan. 8 (Korea Bizwire) – Hyundai Motor Co.’s vice chairman confirmed that a business partnership with two U.S. companies is “under way” in the area of autonomous driving technology, the carmaker said Monday.

After attending U.S. chipmaker Nvidia’s press conference held in Las Vegas on the sidelines of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Hyundai MotorVice Chairman Chung Eui-sun made the remarks when asked whether the company’s “collaboration” with Nvidia and Intel Corp. is ongoing, a company spokesman said.

In the press conference, Nvidia, which has expertise in autonomous driving and artificial intelligence, announced its partnership with Volkswagen and Uber to work on driverless vehicles.

Intel acquired Mobileye, an Israeli developer of self-driving vehicle technologies, last year to take a step forward in the autonomous driving fields.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor will formally announce its partnership withAurora Innovation, a U.S. self-driving car startup, Monday night (U.S. time) to commercialize advanced driverless car technologies that can be operated in a smart city by 2021, the spokesman said.
